Fun Rides on Lead Rope

Inexperienced? First-time rider? No Worries ! Fun rides will enable you to experience and enjoy horseback riding with complete peace of mind as our horses are led by our staff on foot, providing one-on-one attention to both horse and rider.

Duration: 30 minutes or 1 hour.

Beach or Jungle Rides

Ride leisurely through secondary rainforest, while crossing an enchanting jungle stream at the Seven Wells Waterfall. Next, head towards Pantai Kok Beach where Telaga Harbour soon comes into view. At Telaga Harbour, take a break and admire the gorgeous sail and power yachts glistening in the Mediterranean-like marina before taking a ride back to the Perdana Stables through the pine groves along the lovely beach.

Duration: 1 or 2 hours.

Kampung Rides

Meander through the kampung (local villages). Appreciate the architecture of traditional Malay houses and observe everyday kampung life. Ride onwards to take in the unique scenery of Langkawi, with its varied bird life and water buffaloes in the vast paddy fields.

Coming back through the kampung, wander through the rubber trees which make up the rubber plantations. Passing through the rubber plantations, we will ride through the secondary rainforest where our local guide will share facts on local plants and wildlife along the way. While the kampung ride locations may vary due to, season and weather changes, you can be sure that you will be able to enjoy the true idyllic Langkawi experience on this horseback ride.

Exclusive Jungle Trails

Our exclusive jungle trail is exciting and challenging. Although the trails can be extreme, they have been highly rated by experienced horsemen as being among the best treks in the world. This is the trail for serious and experienced riders who are comfortable with all-day trekking. 

Comprising a series of smaller trails, this horseback riding adventure brings you right into the world's oldest virgin rainforest – the beautiful and mysterious virgin rainforest of the 550 million-year-old mountain range of Gunung Matchinchang. Listen as stories unfold from our experienced guide as he lets you in on the secrets of traditional medicinal plants and other extraordinary masterpieces of Mother Nature as you ride through this amazing tropical jungle.

Duration: 2 hours and more.

We provide all riders with quality riding gear such as saddles, safety hats and tacks. We have a strict rule that all riders must wear safety hats as riders' safety is our prime concern. Our team of capable and certified horsemen and horsewomen will accompany riders throughout all rides, with the strictest instructions to ensure riding safety under all circumstances.

What's Your Riding Skill?

We welcome you to ride with us !  Before booking your ride, please take a moment to ascertain your riding experience and skill level, as well as our rules and regulations.

For the safety and enjoyment of our guests, all riders are required to inform us of their riding abilities by selecting one of the following levels as stated below:

1)  INEXPERIENCED:  Never ridden before. (Riding options: Fun Rides, Lessons, Beach and/or Jungle rides but strictly by lead rope only)

2)  BEGINNER: Have had some riding experience, but have never had lessons with an instructor. (Riding options: Lessons, Beach and/or Jungle ride when the rider has proven capabilities to the trail leader. If necessary, a lead rope will be used.)

3)  NOVICE: Have had lessons with a qualified instructor and I am aware of all basic riding requirements. However, not a regular rider and have not ridden for some time. (Riding options: Lessons, Kampung rides, Beach and/or Jungle rides, other riding activities can be considered upon proven capabilities to the trail leader, instructor or endurance- coach)

4)  EXPERIENCED: A certified horseman, skilled in all basic horse knowledge and riding techniques. (Riding options: All available rides and activities)

Riding Rules and Regulations

Our prime consideration is the safety and well-being of rider and horse. Booking of rides is accepted only upon the rider's agreement to:  

Participate in an assessment of riding ability

Abide by the decision of the trail-leader to allocate the horse deemed most compatible with the rider's skill level

Wear a helmet at all times during the ride

Follow the instructions of the trail-leader at all times

Stay within the pace dictated by the trail-leader - this will be restricted to a walk, trot or controlled canter

Understand that under no circumstances will an extended canter or gallop be permitted

Ride on a lead-rope (children and inexperienced riders)

Island Horses Sdn. Bhd. reserves the right to cancel or terminate any ride on grounds of safety, and/or for those who fail to adhere to the above-stated rules. Plaese also note that riding locations may vary, depending on season and weather conditions.
